I've been Nigerian dating scammed once but never twice

(Ladysmith BC canada)

I actually found this profile on match .com I was new to the site, only on 2 days.

He said was a widow living in BC. After 10 days of chatting , on yahoo, I was asked to remove my profile and he would too, as he had found the woman of his dreams.

He then went to Africa to finish up a project, sending me flowers before he left.

He phoned 2 to 3 times a day from Africa singing 'when a man loved a woman'.

Then came the call aznd could I send him $1500 to pay the hotel as the banking system was down. I did but I had my doubts, but thought If I picked him, it must be ok.

A week later he finished the project. Then he shared all the info, expenses and so on, and then said he needed $20,000 to pay the auditors before he could get paid for the job, which was 10 million.

YES, I sent it.

A week later he needed $10,000 to pay the black mailers before the certificate was released, but would settle for $6,500. I then caught on and said no.

He still asked me to pay for a ticket so he could return to BC. The address I was given in BC does not belong to him.

He was a god fearing honest man. The name he used JONE WHITE.. ladies he is a smooth talking scammer.

I have since learnt that 75% of men on match .com are scammers and will pick the new profiles.

He said his name was Fred Maldini and he had seen my profile on Facebook and after weeks of messaging said he was going to Africa for business.

One week later he said he had all his cash stolen and needed money to pay for hotel bills and to get his passport back.

I told him no.

Then he said he would have some money transferred to my account and wanted the bank information. I kind of knew then he was a scammer and he said he didn?t have a web cam and said he talked with an accent because he was from Italy

Dating On Match.com
by: Anonymous

In July 2011 I joined a dating service. I have never done this before.

I live in an area that doesn't have much going on. I had heard stories about people being scammed in the past. I was sent an e-mail that said I like your profile.

I had posted a picture with me sitting on my horse. I sent an e-mail back. The man was nice looking in his early 40's as he said he was a widow like me and had a son. He posted he was from Nebraska.

I mentioned I was on the east coast. He said it didn't matter, that he traveled a lot in business.

He sent me a e-mail saying he was going overseas on business that he traveled overseas as a contractor.

That he had a nanny for his son. That he was originally from Australia and had an accent. I asked if we could talk on the phone before he left, this was about 3 weeks into the conversation already.

He said there was a problem with his phone getting a new one and had to fly out Monday the next day. I received a call that came up unknown caller and picked it up.

He said Hi Honey. He said he was in Malaysia and would be there for many months. The calls were always timed no longer than 5 min. I found this strange.

I asked for a number and he gave me some big number. I called my phone company and they told me it was out of Nigeria. He went by the name of David Frank e-mail, shylove205@yahoo.com.

This man wrote words to me like a poet, never talked about himself very much or tried to have normal conversations or even answer basic questions.

The lines were flowery, suck you in seductive play on the emotions - psychological warfare. I felt sick after a while. I love you crap.

Anyway to make a long story short he needed some money and said he wanted me to open something that came across my computer with red flags looking like some bank account.

I told him to buzz off, then he said I was treating him bad that I was breaking his heart and all he wanted was my love. He also said he was planning a trip to visit me had a week off.

He downloaded a phony itinerary from the airline which showed 2 flights almost 7,000 dollars out of the KLM travel agency.

He kept saying there was a problem with his credit card going through and I had to wait and be patient. Also he would ask me what do I like as he was going shopping and bringing gifts when he came.

I said surprise me.

I knew it was a game. This man was a Fraud. I knew this was a game after 3 weeks. To all of you out there please wake up and smell the coffee!!

The Jone White that scammed me now has a new profile.

He posted one 2 weeks ago under Sir White. When he found out I had seen it and reported it to match .com, he quickly removed it.

The new one is under Mr_Don_white. He is trying to scam new women, and the picture is showing him with his so called daughter and wearing glasses.

Beware ladies - Dont fall for his lies and deception.

Yes, he was very handsome.

I was also swept off my feet and heart broken. He still emails me and tells me in his heart he is in love with me.

If I would send him $2000 for a ticket home, he would come and prove to me he is not a scammer!!

I would love to chat and compare info with you. I go to curves in Ladysmith Mon. wed. and Fri. at 10.30am

Oh my Gosh, I certainly feel for you, the man uses a photo of a nice looking man right? I wish I could see the photo.

I think this is Festus Peter he is a huge scammer! He sang to me over the phone and called me his "Canadian Queen" The story was different but the "singing" rings a bell for me.

Fortunately, I did the research and found his picture on a scammers photo website, I too believed him, and was heartbroken to realize he is a scammer!

If you would like to e-mail me please do. I can't leave my e-mail on the site but perhaps we can find a way to chat!

I am so sorry for your financial loss! WE NEED TO STOP THIS GUY. POWER IN NUMBERS! LADIES LETS CATCH THIS GUY.

He needs to be charged and held accountable for what he does.
