Nigerian dating scam

by Cheryl
(Uk)

Found Walker on tinder on Facebook and was chatting for about a week. He was an orthopaedic Dr working for the United Nations, his wife had left him and his daughter 5 years ago, his daughter was growing up in USA by a nanny.

Both his parents were dead, wanted to buy a house in UK with his new love and someone he could trust. I nearly fell for this except this American person was not writing English but a broken English.

I then asked him his full name, and he couldn't give me a straight answer.

Please ladies beware. I have not been hurt by this so far.

Is he fake?
by: Anonymous

Hello,

Met someone on Mingle2. He lives in England, but he supposedly is working for the UN in South Sudan. I looked up his phone number and it is from Nigeria and not Sudan.

He said that the SIM card is from Nigeria. He sent me a picture from his phone and we have been talking on What's App. He offered to video chat but I didn't want to because it was too early in the morning. I just found out about this scam stuff.

He talked about coming to see me, and said that I should write the UN and that there might be a small fee that I needed to pay. I wrote the UN to see if that was true. I am waiting for an answer.

He also said that he is a widower and it has been 2 years.

Is this fake?

Seems a pity

I got the same story almost... parents died and nanny took him to Croatia and he was in Dallas working for the govt as an artillery engineer...

I thought something was up.. and I tried to rush a date for that week and .. surprise surprise.. he got transferred with only 48 hours notice and could not meet me, and no videos or snap chat... and he photo shopped a pic of him holding my name telling me he was sorry... uggg

These people are dumb if they think we are dumb.

Hi Walker!
by: Terri

It sounds very close to what I went through also. He used the name Dr David Mark, an orthopedic surgeon in Syria... yea right. lol,

I'm very glad you didn't fall for that garbage. I wish ALL women would really pay attention to the way they talk and write, then KNOW that it is a scam. A highly educated person would write in broken english or what ever language they speak to scam.

They are on EVERY dating site out there. Even the expensive ones that so call "screen" their potential customers. They know the system and they use it.

Good job for you all that have recognized the scum bags!!!!

WOOOOO HOOOOO!

It makes me very happy!

Scams
by: Terri

Hi Cheryl!
I have gotten almost 50 of the same scenarios. Within the first sentence they write, you know that they are not english people. They ALL have the same story. They also try to get as much information from you as possible.

I'm happy to know that you did not get hurt from this experience,, so just have fun with them like give them the same story they gave you, or pretend to be really wealthy and give them some crazy off the wall story. LOL,,

Just have fun with it and don't take what they say as truth. All they want is money through MoneyGram.

Good luck to you!

Terri
