Online Romance scam

Hi. I was approached by a guy on LinkedIn called Clifford Chavez from Texas saying he worked on an oil rig and after 2 weeks fell in love with me and was saying the right words. He asked me for connections and to buy steam cards so that he could contact me. I did that for a while then he started asking me for money which stupid me I sent him through bitcoin.

Later a friend of mine saw my attitude changing and I told her she told me straight away it’s a scam so I took her advice.

Please let me know if anyone has heard of this Clifford Chavez who claims to have a son. I know the photos are not of him but be careful

He changed his name sometimes and is called David when I confronted him over this, he left instantly, so he was a scammer.

Yes did a brief video chat from his oil rig but was only for few seconds. It was not the same but it looked photo shopped. He said he had to go cause he came over by helicopter from 7000km to port to make this call.

Yes a load of BS and yes he is Nigerian from Arkure

I haven’t heard from him much these days. But need to check if he did any video chats and if so what did you see. He tried one with me and for the brief moment I did see him and it was the guy in the photos. Someone mentioned below that it might be Nigerian, what do you think?

Are you still in contact with him as maybe you should tell him you will send some money and you can only do it by western union not bitcoin as with western union they need to give you full details and address.

It ended for me cause my best friend saw me texting and that we were going to be married and I was organising to sell the house and he kept insisting when I sell the house to put it in his bitcoin wallet so my best friend insisted to me he is fake even the address in Texas didn’t belong to him it belonged to two couple without children.

I sent the state troopers to that address and the owner said you're the fourth person to knock on my door about this Clifford

You met him may this year or last year . Did he send you poems and video of him dancing with his son and did he send you YouTube songs . We need to find his address I know his from Nigeria but can’t get a IP address so if he video calls you it will be for 2 seconds it’s not him

Yes that’s him so what name is he using with you. If you look up yandex.com and put his picture on there you will see all his profiles and he has different name for each photo. he is a scammer and we need to get his IP address from his email so get him to send you an email please

May 2019 till July 2020 he took 32000$ off me through bitcoin and almost ruined my life. I almost sold my house to go live with him in Texas but lucky a friend saved my life.

He told me he was from Texas but working oil rig in Austria company called OMV please send me photos by email and any other info you have how long did you talk to him for?

What time frame did this happen for you? I didn’t have to email the nanny, but he did aask for money as his account was blocked so he couldn’t pay the nanny.
He asked for money about 3-4 weeks in. Wow, that’s a lot of money. Where did he tell you he was?
I’ve tried to put up a photo but it won’t let me.

I started talking to him at the End of May.He said he works for OMV too. He’s still contacts me now. How did it end for you?

Met him on Tinder, he has a son with severe mental illness and works on Rig near Austria. He told me 2 weeks in that he loves me and wants to marry me. Then his bank account was blocked and he couldn’t pay the nanny who was looking after his son.

Then he asked for money. After he realised I wasn’t going to give him any he played nice for a while then the story was he was running out of data and I had to go buy steam cards and he could use them to access the internet and play video games. He has sent me a few photos and one of his son.

Having sent anything yet, but wanted to see if anyone has gone across this same name and scenario

Yes, he’s also on IG. Same scammer. Claimed he loved me then got super nasty when I refused to send him money! Hopefully you didn’t send him much!
