SCAMMER:Dr. Oliver James - Orthopedic Surgeon

Oliver James said he was working with the United Nations as an orthopedic surgeon in Syria with a 14 year old daughter name Melvin. How stupid Melvin. I should have picked up on his stupidity but I was so naive. I never heard of this kind of scam or scams period.

He was not the sharpest tool in the shed. DUMB as a doorknob but as an educator I gave him the benefit of the doubt. I just told myself, thank God he's not operating on me; he would probably mistake a leg for an arm.

Of course the first thing you want to do is to be angry with yourself, but don't do that You would have learned from an idiot like this. This too was a lesson and would have learned from it. Now to just move on and laugh at this whole unfortunate situation.

Yes, I lost $5500, but when I gave it, it was from my heart and it made me feel good at the time. Boy, I truly believe that ignorance is bliss and was I ever so blissful. I should have left it at that and moved on.

But no, I thought I was in love and that was fun too lol. Now it has all ended. Moving right along, may he burn in hell!!!

I too have been romance scammed. I'm a married woman who unfortunately is unhappy in my marriage. I was asked to be friends on Facebook by a person named Anthony who later told me his name is Steve Anthony.

He started out asking me to provide him with Steam Cards that later turned into requests for money. I should've listened to my sister and blocked his number but he groomed me so well I couldn't give him up. He was a widower with a 15 year old son. After 2 life-threatening illnesses and pleas from his son for help, he took my life savings and i am now paying off two loans.

He claims to be in Aruba in the hospital. His friend, Dr. Oliver James, an orthopedic surgeon, which I only learned his specialty today, has been keeping me up to date on his recuperation. I feel so stupid, ashamed and degraded that I allowed this to happen.

I have nothing left for myself to live on and have returned to work for extra money.

Please keep an eye open in regards to people who promise the moon and give nothing in return. I am a kind-hearted woman who thought she had found her soulmate and instead found a ring of thieves.

Some person, under the guise of James Williams, orthopedic surgeon, now living in Aleppo, Syria, from Houston, TX, (get this: born Dec 3, 1994) and tried to scam my mother. She uses FB as a witnessing tool and frequently encounters bottom-feeders although she believes they still need someone to let them know that Jesus loves them and will be waiting for them. I have had someone on Facebook going by the name of Ryan James from Sydney, Australia, a widow with teenage daughter working as an Orthopaedic Surgeon in Somalia. He has told me he wanted to get out of Somalia and he wanted my address and some money so he can send a letter to the UN asking them to get him out of Somalia.

Not only that he asked to look at an apartment for us to live together. On the image used on the Facebook he has blonde hair and slim. He uses ryanjames4335@gmail.com for an email address.

I am not sending him nothing. I feel this is the same man everyone is talking about.

James Williams is trouble and a scam. He claims to be a surgeon then because he is a medical provider I asked for his NPI number he was stumped and I have gotten other requests using different names.

Then he used a Cleveland clinic and Ohio license with mis-spells. I do not trust him and he asks for money and claims to me he has a son named Eric. Scan down all all of these entries and don't get hooked with promises of love etc

I met Stephenn on a dating website. He claims to live in Miami FL (east coast) although he has his dating profile set to a city on the West Coast of Florida. He won’t explain the discrepancy.

He says he’s an orthopedic surgeon with the UN taking care of wounded soldiers in Iran. He indicated he was born in the Netherlands and he’s a God-fearing Christian man. He's extremely vague and his story just didn’t feel right.

an Orthopedic surgeon from Italy. Owns a house in LA. Has a daughter in Dubai in school. Says his wife and he divorced 8 years ago as he found her cheating on him.

In love with me now in 2 months. Anyone out there getting the same conversations?

He has sent pictures but I find the same on photo shop images. I can’t get him to video chat as he says I must download Hangout, which I have not. Profile on Words with friends says he just started playing March this year.

Lots of misspelled words and bad grammar. Has anyone else been talking to him?

I can’t find him on any list of UN doctors in Iraq. I am worried as I saw some post saying another scammer was using this name. Looking for input.

The email says his dad is a dr there. Been a while since anything new. Previously I was dumb enough to give money to Eric through his dad in cards.

I’m a trustee in bankruptcy in Canada, PQ, and my client lost more than 100,000$ with this guy, on a love website , same stories as below. Dr for UN working in Syria, coming from Texas, always in trouble and needing big money. She never talked to him, never saw him for real, false pictures.

So sad. I just showed her all the comments on the web today so she will finally believe her friend and banker! Thanks for all your stories, it helps others.

There are too many coincidences, I believe I'm an intended victim. Though I made sure to passively mention I had zero money. It didn't seem to deter him.

He says he's an orthopedic surgeon in Yemen, but from Florida. In one of his first messages he mentions being unable to access his account due to the war. First red flag. I tried googling him because if he's a real doctor, there's record of him somewhere. I added the terms orthopedic surgeon and it brought me here.

He is back again!!! Now using the name of MK Bachhale on Facebook request but my FB alert cross referenced him to James Williams. He now states he is from Dallas. When I fell for his lies before he said he was from Queens NY and then sent a phony license with bad spelling from Cleveland Clinic in Ohio.

I fell a little that cost me too and he still is saying he is in Kabul. I am a medical provider and have reported him since he is using the name James Williams of a Dr at the Cleveland clinic. He medically knows nothing and when I asked for his NPI # he was confused.

Also used multiple phone ### 2 with area code 716 which is Buffalo NY. PLEASE don't get scammed like I did and luckily I lost $$$ but not as much as some of you. He claims having a son who has multiple names if you read this site

Beware it is a scam. I paid £3,000 to get him out of Kabul now he wants me to cash in my pension and says he needs thousands of pounds to get home.

Believe me this is a scam, he is not real. I can never see or talk to him. Sent me photos of a gorgeous man (that I fell in love with) but it’s not him. English very poor and lacks knowledge and understanding.

Same as everyone. Kimberly was the name on Facebook. The more I texted the more suspicious I became. He was evasive and never really answered my questions. He would trip over his answers. English definitely not his mother tongue.

His profile did not match his answers. When pressed about where he lived in Montreal, he gave me an address no doctor would live there. Blocked him as soon as I could.

I got scammed on Gmail and the story was I am in Kabul and working for the UN and they extended my contract and I need $$$ to pay a "man" with a Gmail from the UN to break contract. Being a medical provider I asked for his credentials and NPI and he then sent me an invalid medical license ## from Ohio and also the bad spelling and no medical license existed but the Drs name is an MD in Ohio. He is asking for cards for his son back in Queens so beware of the name listed under comment title

I guess the same person contacted me a few days ago. He is a surgeon in Somalia, looking after poor children (haha). The same story, been in Afghanistan, now UN moved him to Somalia, has a 14 y.o. son, and from San Francisco, born in Barcelona.

I asked him about the time in Somalia and he was wrong by an hour. Also, I noticed that his long replies were very fast, which made me think that all of them were written in advance and C&P'd. I asked him a few more test questions and then asked him for his real name. Of course, he never replied!

He had a cute picture of a young guy but pretended to be 49. I've done a Google search of his Facebook profile photo and a lot of scam results appeared. I reported him on FB and I think his profile has now been deleted.

Thanks for the hint. He contacted me on LinkedIn today under the name of Oliver Jamaes (!tiny twist in his name). Similar story, he resides now in London with this family but did work in Yemen as an orthopedic surgeon and so forth.

He wanted to give me his private email address. I then found this page here and realized it is a scam. I quit instantly and removed him from my chat and contacts.

His name is Seivry Maekh, who is working under UN in Yemen as an orthopedic surgeon doctor. I'm not an English native speaker. He said he is learning my country's language. His daughter is in the UK and his wife passed away a few years ago. I felt strange at that time.

Last autumn I got a similar e-mail thorough another SNS. She lost her husband and is stationed in Afghanistan. Her parents passed away and she has two daughters. She needs some friends, so I replied to her. She attached a few photos of her in army uniform. But I thought something strange. Her second e-mail says,"Hello my dear,". I wrote my name to her and of course I called her own name in the mail. She didn't mention my name at all.

It's suspicious. So I didn't write to her again. But she sent me some pieces of e-mails and asked me for investment or something regarding money. I ignored of them.

Today's guy used messenger. Suddenly he gave me a call. He rang persistently and finally I picked it up. First he said he was American. When I asked him about his nationality later, he said he was Yemeni. His story was incoherent. I saw his face in video call for a moment. I think he didn't move, maybe it is a photo. Thanks God, our connection was bad. We didn't talk.

I doubted him and I said good-bye since he was eager to chat with me more. He didn't give up and sent me his gmail address. Immediately I blocked his account out. After that I found some articles of "scam" on the Internet. Wow. It was fraud!!

My country's people don't understand English. But just in case, I will spread this kind of fraud to other people. We must protect ourselves from fraud. I want to say to people like this guy, "GO TO HELL!!"

He said he had a 14-year-old son in school and his wife was a journalist in Afghanistan and was killed a few years ago. After some communication it was clear that this was a scam. Says he is 58, an orthopedic surgeon and medical emergency specialist. Says he has been with the UN in Syria for 5 years and is done in 3 months. Lives in NY but was raised by grandmother in Japan. Daughter Karen is age 18. Says his wife died 3 years ago.

I told him what kind of father leaves his daughter without a mother and father if he is a surgeon he could have gotten a stateside job. His written English is good with occasional hitches. I asked him what is his first language and he is evasive. I told him don’t ask for money or to go to other sites, just play the game or move on. He is a relatively consistent high scorer. He is looking for a wife, so I told him keep looking I’m just your scrabble partner.

I did a reverse search on his photo and got nothing so he has learned.

Beware all he is back.

I mean, who tries to find out lots of your info by asking questions while at the same time sounding "playful" in a sexy way creepy way if you ask me, yet he tells you don’t forget to say prayers at bedtime. I have a similar story to report. A man calling himself Earl Farmer sent me a friend request on FaceBook. He claimed to be a "debridement doctor" in the Navy currently stationed by the UN in Iraq. He said English was not his first language and that was why his grammar was poor. He said Italian was his primary language. He also claimed to be a widow with a 13 year old son who was back in the US with the nanny.

I'm a nurse and would often test him by speaking medical lingo asking him professional questions about conditions or medications which, of course, he couldn't answer. His responses would take a long time and when he would respond it sounded like he had copied it right from Wikipedia or WEbMD.

If I questioned it he would immediately get very defensive. He tried to get me to send emails to a lawyer and the UN to say I was his fiance and was requesting that he could come home on leave.

I didn't do it and blocked him.

Game request in words with friends. Has a pic of 2 drs for his profile. Several days of game play and he messages and says I play a good game. Says he is an orthopedic surgeon currently working in Aleppo with war refugees. He was working at a New York training hospital.

I had already checked out Facebook and saw his profiles were fake. He slipped up yesterday and called me sweet baby girl. So now I am waiting for him to ask me for money or profess he is falling in love with me.

He is my 2nd James Williams scammer this week. The other 1 worked on oil rigs. This week Mark Anderson an engineer in Florida professed his love after 3 messages. Victor Leo from Nyc worked on an oil rig, Feller Tomas worked with the oil rigs. I have confronted them which they did not care for.

Oh they all want to chat in hangouts. Stay safe. Be smart, check things out. Never send anyone anything or give out personal info. If they send pictures do a reverse search, checkout facebook, twitter, Instagram, google.

I hope this helps at least 1 person. Nigeria, foreign countries, oil rigs, drs, widowers, hangouts are all red flags. They steal photos from real profiles and will send them to you.

Well his name is Aliyu James this time! Surgeon working for the UN in Afganistan. Interesting though, because I insisted that he video chat with me so I could see him. We did video chat briefly. However the reception was poor and indeed he did appear to have on a white coat, had black hair, and light skin similar to the pictures he sent me of him posed with his son. Crazy right! He told me they weren't allowed to video chat in Afghanistan because he would be considered a spy and that he was risking his life to contact me.

Someone was definitely standing there in that white coat! How can anyone be in love within a week! Thank God I'm a sleuth and began to Google to find out what was up with this dude. Told me how beautiful I was and that he wanted to marry me! Within a week! He has a son named Alfred, and his wife died years ago in a gas accident.

This is shameful. Thankfully I know better now not to communicate with him. We can all learn from this.

Thank your lucky stars that you caught on quicker than I. When this happened to me I was so innocent and naive and I never heard of scamming. But I sure know about it now, $5,500 of knowledge.
They use the same scenario as follows: Orthopedic Surgeon, 1 child living with a nanny while he serves with
the UN (United Nations)...will fall in love with you in a heartbeat, because God meant for the two of you to be together. But oh, he'll ask for ITune card so that he can download his files...it goes on and on...the more I type this the angrier I get and I don't want to do that to myself. My family doesn't know that this has happen to be, they just wonder why I don't have money to spend...and that is because I took our a loan to send to this trash because he needed it ....I can't go on...too painful...JUST BE SMART OUT THERE...DON 'T BECOME A VICTIM...MOST OF ALL, LOVE YOURSELF. This is a SCAM. Please don't believe him. This is how it starts. My scam found on the game Words with Friends. Then lo and behold, he was in love with me in a matter of 3 days and I BELIEVED HIM. Actually, I never heard about SCAMS...but believe you me, I learnt about it fast though it cost me $5500. I was too late learning about SCAMS.

Dr Oliver James (aka Olly James) is still using this scam. Still Using words with friends to do exactly the same thing; please use hangouts. Claims to be 52 and working as an orthopaedic surgeon for the UN currently in Afghanistan for a while. Can't accept hangout calls as due to safety issues and needs permission.

Says he lost his wife 4 years ago in a fatal accident in the States. This time says he is from LA and living in London.

My radar sounded as he said he was falling in love after 3 days and then asked me to email his son as he wasn't talking to him and he wanted him to understand him. Grammar still dodgy but I stupidly thought this was because he was using a phone (it happens to the best of us).

I cottoned on after a few days and have blocked him.

I am currently talking to someone on Hangouts that is going by James Oliver. He is a surgeon working for the UN and has a 14 year old son, Jeffrey. He lives in Texas. He randomly sent a Facebook request to me but then asked to go to Google Hangouts. I have chatted with him for nearly a week and he has professed his love to me, however no one can or should "love" someone only knowing them a week, especially online. He has not asked for money or anything yet.

I decided to randomly google his name and came upon this article. Thank you for speaking out. He contacted me this morning by email. His email is jamesoliver0725@gmail.com.

I believe this same person may have contacted me through Match. He claimed to be a General Surgeon and Orthopedic Surgeon for the UN and was currently living in Somalia. He had a vacation to Cuba planned and was being sent to Florida in 2 months. He had 2 daughters and his wife died from cancer about 4 years ago.

I knew he seemed too good to be true so I started pounding him with lots of questions about his education. He was very slow to answer and his grammar was quite questionable for someone with so much education. I asked for his LinkedIn profile and he said he had never heard of LinkedIn.

I knew immediately that something wasn’t right so I immediately blocked him. Oh, and he quickly asked to start chatting through Google hangouts because he was closing his Match account.

Wait a minute. Are you me because you sound exactly like me. I was scammed. I was you. But I quit kicking myself. Mine lasted longer.

These people are con artists from Nigeria. They are good at their "job" because they've been able to perfect it for years as you aren't the only one.

We got roped into their game because people like us couldn't imagine such an evil thing to do. We didn't know scamming to this level even existed. We just didn't know. And how could we?

It's not that you are desperate looking for love. We thought we found it. I'm in hella of a debt right now and it's a price I have to pay for having a big heart.

I'm in the same boat. And the sick thing, is these scammers are riddled all over the dating sites. I can now spot them a mile away and the red flags have become personal. Lesson learned is an understatement.

Where do we go from here? We rebuild. You are not the only person this has happened to. So please stop beating yourself up. I have to believe that this happened to us for a reason. Because whatever is in store for us in the future, we now have the knowledge and experience to over come it.

Don't let the debt change your life. Don't get caught up in today's society of the fear of dropping your credit score. Just make sure you have food on your table and your the necessities to survive.

I think he is using the same name because I told him it's a nice name and that I like the name OLIVER. This guy is smooth. I don't know what library he borrowed the sweet talking book from. I thought he was the best and had the most beautiful words ever spoken. I believed him. I believed in him and our relationship lasted for 4 months before the light went on. Though I did deny the most obvious.

First he asked for iTune cards. Why? because he had every intention of going on a leave of absence but he needs these cards to DOWNLOAD his files. yeah right!

Oh but I believed him. I believed him wholeheartedly and what I dummy I was. I could kick myself. His wife died in a car accident and he was left with a 14 year old daughter named Melvin taken care of by a nanny. Don't be a SUCKER LIKE ME! I BORROWED the money and I'm in debt now struggling to pay this off.

My partner got contacted on Facebook from a man called Allison Franklin with the following description of the "case". Mr. Allison Franklin is working as an Orthopedic Surgeon Doctor at the military base Chad, West Africa. He is among the soldiers that were sent from USA to Chad for a peace keeping mission. His working contract lasts to 2019. In the USA, Texas, he has a son, Pascal, who is turning 6 years in September and is living in an orphanage because his mother died in a car accident 2 years ago and there are no other relatives who can take care of him. Pascal has reached the age to start up a new school outside the orphanage.

Mr. Franklins mother (76) needs be cared for because she is so sick and at the intensive care unit for failing organ systems, and she needs treatment and constant monitoring and frequent nursing care. The whole situation is a burden to Mr. Franklin and he would like to take care of his son and mother himself as soon as possible. My wife was asked to pay for emergency leave for this person.

Has anybody experienced the same or similar case ?

He also said he was on a list to go to hospital in Iraq very soon and he was afraid for his life.

So I was again told him he was a scammer. Of course he denied it and claimed he still loved me.

I will expose as many as I can from Facebook to warn women who might believe their lies and give them money. Please value yourself and know you could be ruined financially and heartbroken. My goal is to suck them in and get as much information from them as I can in a short period of time. They claim love for you within days.

So very sad and evil.

My elderly neighbor is being scammed by this person. He said he was in the UN and needed her to pay for his vacation to come visit/live with her (along with his young daughter); the amounts he was asking kept increasing, but always with the promise that she would eventually be reimbursed by the UN.

I believe she's in it for well over 30K. When I showed this page to her, she didn't believe it was the same person.

I guess the heart wants what the heart wants. And there is nothing I can do to stop it. It makes me so sad.

Why I'm writing this, is that I still play Words With Friends on my computer and these kind of SCAMS are still going on. Certain words that those idiots use identify them.

I'm so AWARE now and YOU need to be AWARE also. I'm so happy that by sharing this stupid experience of mine I help to prevent this from happening to others. What a sad experience. I don't think I mentioned that initially, he had asked for iTune cards so that he could download his files.

What is it with these orthopedic Drs in Syria? I met one and began research, finding many names. Where are the scammers? Nigeria? Is this a common identity. I never heard of it before. It can't all be the same guy. But they all have similar stories. And why report to FBI? If you will never get money back. I'm missing something.

Is there a place to view pics of these doctors.

I would find that interesting.

For the few of you who have commented regarding my very unfortunate experience with a so-called Dr. Oliver James, I want to THANK YOU. You have helped with the healing process. This has been a very painful experience FISCALLY!

$5500 is a lot of money. As for the heart, that was painful but not as painful as the $5500 LOL Like it was said, I have never heard of romantic scams and these lowlife people sure picked a winner!

I can't say it enough times but I hope they BURN IN HELL! Again, for the few of you who have commented, thank you and I pray that your healing was quick. We will all find love again...but will be more careful that we don't come into contact with trashy lowlife individuals like the so-called Dr. Oliver James UN Orthopedic Surgeon with a daughter called Melvin...GOSH, how could I have been so stupid!

Shame he didn't contact me as I know a lot about orthopaedics and could have strung him along for a while! The most valuable lesson to learn from this however is NEVER EVER give them money, however much your heart feels you want to help them. All you are doing is funding their drug habits or criminal activities, so if you are contacted again please remember this and as soon as money is mentioned block them!

You go girl! Same here. I lost money but it was given from the heart. I also felt good about it. I can only hope karma will reign down on them.

Mine was a special ops in the military with a daughter taken care by his mother and his wife died of cancer. It was all BS. After posting his picture, others chimed in and one guy said he was told he was gay.

All this from the same guy.
