Warning scam: Robert Eiken - private oil consultant

I met a few months ago a man named Robert (50) in Tinder - he was really handsome and cool. After chatting 1-2 days he asked to move to WhatsApp. Number was/is american: +1(442)204-0892, name Robert Eiken, works as an Oil and Gas Consultant at Apache Corporation.


All was cool and romantic until he came to work to Europe/Italy on the rig where internet connection was really bad and he asked to make me some money transfers from his 24m account. It was really suspicious until the first transaction didn't go trough because of taxes which he asked me to pay.

That was too much for me! After a thorough investigation it turned out that the pictures of himself that he had sent me during those months had been stolen from Rob Murgatroyd's account - a handsome man I almost fell in love with... Sad and shame!

Over a month ago, he sent me a follow request on IG which I accepted because he was following a fellow IG member in my community so I thought he might be a local. Super sweet, kind and direct, he won my heart pretty fast.

It all seemed to be too good to be true but the phone calls with his kind yet strong German voice convinced me he was sincere. He said he was working 125 miles off the coast of Maine as an oil rig engineer and made it sound as though it was his project and in charge.

He said he met his wife who died 3 years ago in college in Michigan. They have a 5 year old and his wife died 3 years ago. He said he is from Norway. An only child. Mom died when he was 9 and him and his dad relocated to the US when he was 20. The one time Google video chat, which was mostly frozen, also convinced me because I didn’t know a live chat could be faked.

The image on the Google video chat and all the photos he sent are of a gentleman named Rob Murgatrod, who is a handsome very attractive man with a successful podcast called Work Hard Play Hard.

My brain can’t process this kind of hurtful deception.

I too met this man! Except, he went by the name Robert Wilson Ferguson, born on June1, 1969. He lived in Buckinghamshire UK.

He was working on an oil rig in Alaska and planned to retire this month (December 2021). He planned to fly to see me, then down to Clearwater, Florida to buy a house for him and his daughter.

He was SO believable being super caring, sweet, thoughtful, very smart, articulate and well spoken. We talked by phone as well as over Skype. I found out later that he somehow used a video from Rob Murgatroyd, and was able to manipulate the Skype call so that it appeared to be very real!

Not sure what his end game was in our 4 month correspondence. I guess I will never find out!

I have searched so many sites trying to see if I could find this guy and thats him in the picture. He went by the name Robert Ferguson. Working on an oil rig in Alaska.

Dont believe anything this man tells you. He is definitely a smooth talker.

I am right now chating with that Robert Eiken. We matched in Tinder and the scenario was all the same. He is currently in Italy, near Nepal, with his new contract. When taking a hotel taxi from the airport, the taxi driver took out his weapon, he ran, twisted his leg, and so on.

The first request for money was to pay the hotel bill, the wallet was lost :) I asked that hotel name. I found that hotel but there was no room so expensive. Then I found this page with Yana warning, so thank you so much for reporting. I decided to play on. He suggested paying hotel bill in bitcoins because he should leave next day and the bill must be paid! He gave me the hotel bitcoin wallet address! I turned to the hotel with online chat on their site and asked the hotel bitcoin wallet address and I got the response, that unfortunately its not possible to pay with bitcoins!!

So what I want to suggest to everyone - just be curious and research the internet, social media, and ask for supporting photos of the passport, driver's license and check the facts, Google.
